Pictures that answer in parables.
Tarot began as a card game in fifteenth-century Italy and became, from the eighteenth century onward, a book of symbols read for reflection. The Veil works with three historic decks, each offering a different lens on the same question.
The decks we use
1909 William Rider & Sons Deck
Seventy-eight cards drawn by Pamela Colman Smith. Its fully illustrated Minor Arcana give the broadest, most concrete language — suited to relationships, work and everyday choices.
Papus Tarot 1909
Twenty-two Major Arcana in the Martinist and Kabbalistic manner of Gérard Encausse. Each arcanum is read through the Divine, Human and Natural worlds — for questions about hidden causes and principles.
Oswald Wirth Tarot 1889
Twenty-two arcana drawn for initiatic self-study. Wirth's deck reads the situation as a threshold and asks what discipline or transformation it demands.
Spreads
A single card, three-card past–present–future, and the ten-card Celtic Cross. Each reading is interpreted together with your chart and numbers.
