Major Arcana · XI
Justice — tarot meaning
truth, consequence, balance
Upright
Cause and consequence, weighed honestly. Truth comes to light and balance is restored by clear seeing.
Reversed
Bias or avoided accountability — the scales tipped by what is left unsaid.
In the Papus Tarot, 1909
La Force — Strength · Hebrew letter כ Kaph
Papus: the strength of the spirit over the animal soul. Martinists read the lion as the desire-body, tamed by love and not by punishment.
In the Oswald Wirth Tarot, 1889
La Force — Strength · Hebrew letter כ Kaph
For Wirth this is spiritual, not muscular strength: the woman closes the lion's jaws without a weapon, which is the whole distinction between mastery and violence.
