The Star — William Rider & Sons tarot card

Major Arcana · XVII

The Star — tarot meaning

hope, healing, quiet faith

Upright

Hope after the storm. Quiet faith, healing and the sense of being guided by something gentle and vast.

Reversed

Dimmed hope or faith in hiding — the light is there, unseen.

In the Papus Tarot, 1909

L'Étoile — The Star · Hebrew letter פ Pe

Papus: immortality of the spirit, the star of the mages, the descent of grace into nature. Martinists call it the answer to a sincere prayer.

In the Oswald Wirth Tarot, 1889

Les Étoiles — The Star · Hebrew letter פ Pe

After the tower's fall Wirth places the naked figure at the water: nothing hidden and nothing owned, the eight stars marking a peace that is given rather than won.
