The Sun — tarot meaning
clarity, vitality, joy
Upright
Clarity and vitality. What was hidden warms into the open — success, joy and simple daylight truth.
Reversed
Clouded joy — vitality present but temporarily dimmed.
In the Papus Tarot, 1909
Le Soleil — The Sun · Hebrew letter ק Qoph
Papus: earthly and heavenly light, the union of the two natures under one source. Martinists read the two children as the reconciled man, no longer divided.
In the Oswald Wirth Tarot, 1889
Le Soleil — The Sun · Hebrew letter ק Qoph
Wirth pairs the two children under the sun deliberately: the accomplished work is never solitary, and the wall behind them is the shelter their fraternity built.
